Bilateral Relations Strengthened Between Cambodia and Brunei

In a recent meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Excellency Sok Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, and His Excellency Pengiran Kasmirhan Bin Pengiran Haji Tahir, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Cambodia, reiterated their dedication to bolstering bilateral ties.

Both leaders affirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in various sectors including trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, and culture. They emphasized the importance of fostering mutually beneficial relationships that contribute to the growth and prosperity of both nations.

Acknowledging the significance of collaboration on regional and international platforms, Deputy Prime Minister Sok Chenda Sophea and Ambassador Pengiran Kasmirhan Bin Pengiran Haji Tahir pledged continued support to each other in such forums. Their united stance reflects a shared vision for advancing common interests and addressing global challenges.

Reflecting on past achievements, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Ambassador recalled the successful official visit of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, King of Brunei Darussalam, to Cambodia in 2022. They highlighted the positive outcomes of the visit, which laid a foundation for deeper cooperation between the two countries.

Furthermore, they mentioned the bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Hun Sen and Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah during the 43rd ASEAN Summit and related summits in Jakarta in September 2023. This meeting served as another important milestone in strengthening diplomatic ties and fostering dialogue on regional issues.

In a bid to further explore opportunities for collaboration, both parties discussed specific initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth and cultural exchange. These initiatives include joint investment projects, tourism promotion campaigns, and educational exchanges between Cambodia and Brunei.

Looking ahead, Deputy Prime Minister Sok Chenda Sophea and Ambassador Pengiran Kasmirhan Bin Pengiran Haji Tahir expressed optimism about the future of Cambodia-Brunei relations.
