In a significant move towards modernization, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPT) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to revolutionize the justice sector by providing technology training to justice officials, thereby enhancing the quality and efficiency of their work.
The MoU signing ceremony, held yesterday and presided over by Keut Rith, Justice Minister, and Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, marks a pivotal moment in Cambodia's quest for digital transformation in the justice sector.
Central to the MoU's objectives is the establishment of comprehensive technology and digital skills training programs for civil servants under the Ministry of Justice. This initiative is poised to equip officials with the necessary expertise to navigate and leverage technological tools effectively.
In addition to training initiatives, the MoU outlines plans to launch 'verify.gov.kh,' a platform designed for document verification. Furthermore, the introduction of the 'Digital Government Products' (DGP) policy aims to furnish the Ministry of Justice with cutting-edge technology solutions.
Justice Minister Keut Rith commended the efforts of the digital government committee and the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications for their strides in the digital domain. He lauded their achievements, particularly the recent accolade of 'verify.gov.kh' winning the gold medal at the 2024 ASEAN Digital Awards in Singapore.
Speaking at the event, Minister Rith emphasized that the signing of the MoU signifies a significant stride towards modernizing the justice sector. He underscored the importance of embracing technology to streamline processes and better serve the public.
Kim Santepheap, spokesman for the Ministry of Justice, expressed optimism regarding the transformative impact of digitalization on ministry operations. He highlighted the potential for technology to expedite services while minimizing bureaucratic hurdles and errors.
Minister Chea Vandeth emphasized that the MoU will bolster the capacity of civil servants by equipping them with essential digital skills. He stressed that accelerating the digital revolution is crucial for instilling trust and delivering seamless services to the populace.
