Kookmin Bank Unveils Major Expansion in Cambodia

In a significant move to bolster its presence in Cambodia, KB Kookmin Bank celebrated the grand opening of KB PRASAC Bank in Phnom Penh, the capital city, with a lavish ceremony attended by over 700 individuals. Among the distinguished guests were key figures such as the Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, Chea Serey, and the Cambodian Ambassador to Korea, Chring Botum Rangsay. The ceremony, held last Friday, marked a milestone for KB Kookmin Bank's strategic expansion into the Southeast Asian market.

Highlighting their commitment to customer satisfaction and balanced regional development, Yang Jong-hee, Chairman of KB Financial Group, emphasized the bank's dedication to fostering mutual growth in Cambodia. He outlined the bank's vision of becoming a lifelong financial partner to the Cambodian populace by offering tailored financial services at every stage of life.

Since its initial foray into the Cambodian market in 2009 with Kookmin Bank Cambodia, KB has made significant strides, culminating in the acquisition of Prasac Microfinance Institution last year. This acquisition paved the way for the establishment of KB PRASAC Bank, solidifying KB Kookmin Bank's foothold in Cambodia's financial landscape.

With a keen focus on addressing the diverse needs of customers across different regions, KB PRASAC Bank aims to become a leading commercial bank in Cambodia. By offering specialized products such as small-scale loans for farmers, support loans for small businesses, and housing loans for the middle class, the bank seeks to cater to the unique requirements of Cambodian citizens.

In line with its expansion strategy, KB PRASAC Bank plans to bridge the gap between rural and urban areas through innovative financial solutions. With 190 operational branches and a workforce exceeding 5,000 employees, the bank is poised to strengthen its position as a key player in Cambodia's banking sector.

Commenting on the bank's ambitious plans, a KB Kookmin Bank official highlighted the significant growth potential of KB PRASAC Bank, which currently ranks as the fourth-largest commercial bank in Cambodia. The official reiterated the bank's commitment to expanding its business operations and enhancing its foundation to better serve the Cambodian community.

With its unwavering dedication to customer-centric services and strategic expansion initiatives, KB Kookmin Bank is set to redefine the banking landscape in Cambodia, offering a wide range of financial products and services tailored to the evolving needs of its customers.
