Siem Reap Launches Free Public Transport for Run Ta Ek Techo Sen Residents

Siem Reap provincial administration has announced a groundbreaking initiative to ease transportation woes for residents commuting between Run Ta Ek Techo Sen city and Siem Reap city. Starting February 15, 2024, a free public transport service will be provided, marking a significant step towards enhancing mobility and accessibility for the community.

During a visit to Run Ta Ek commune, Banteay Srey district, Prime Minister Hun Manet underscored the challenges faced by residents due to the remote location. Responding to the Prime Minister's directive, Siem Reap provincial leaders swiftly organized the provision of 10 buses to facilitate the daily commute of residents to and from the city center.

The initiative aims to support residents who have chosen to relocate from the Angkor resort area to the burgeoning Run Ta Ek development area in pursuit of employment and livelihood opportunities. By offering free transportation, the provincial administration seeks to enhance the quality of life for residents by eliminating financial barriers to mobility.

Acknowledging the difficulties faced by residents in accessing essential services and employment opportunities in urban centers, the provincial administration's decision to introduce free public transport reflects a commitment to inclusivity and equitable development. This move is poised to positively impact the socio-economic landscape of the region.

The provision of free public transport underscores the government's dedication to fostering social progress and enhancing the well-being of its citizens. By prioritizing the needs of vulnerable communities and addressing transportation challenges, the initiative embodies a forward-thinking approach to governance.

Improved connectivity through free public transport will not only facilitate access to employment opportunities but also foster greater social cohesion and community integration. Residents of Run Ta Ek Techo Sen city can now traverse the distance to Siem Reap city with ease, expanding their horizons and enhancing their quality of life.

The launch of free public transport aligns with broader efforts to promote sustainable development and reduce reliance on private vehicles, thereby mitigating traffic congestion and environmental pollution. By encouraging the use of public transportation, the initiative contributes to building a more environmentally conscious and resilient community.

The introduction of free public transport by the Siem Reap provincial administration represents a significant milestone in addressing transportation challenges and enhancing accessibility for residents. Through collaborative efforts and forward-thinking policies, the initiative holds the promise of fostering inclusive growth, improving livelihoods, and promoting sustainable development in the region.
