In a recent update from the Undersecretary of State and Civil Aviation spokesman Sin Chanserivutha, it has been revealed that Techo International Airport (TIA) is on track to open its gates by the end of the first half of 2025. With over 60 percent of the construction already completed, anticipation is high for this major infrastructure project.
During a visit to oversee the construction progress, Dr. Mao Havnall, Minister in charge of the Secretariat of Civil Aviation, provided insights into the significant advancements made. As of February 8, 2024, the construction, led by the company, has reached an impressive 64.1% completion, amounting to a total cost of $932 million.
Key infrastructure developments, such as the construction of a 13.5-kilometer road linking Samdech Boulevard to the airport, have also seen substantial progress, currently standing at 85% completion. These enhancements are crucial for ensuring seamless connectivity and accessibility for passengers and cargo transport alike.
Mr. Sin Chanserivutha emphasized that the construction of Techo International Airport commenced in 2019, with Phase 1 scheduled for completion by the end of 2024, according to the Updated Master Schedule provided by CAIC / Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd. The airport, designed as a 4F category facility, is poised to accommodate long-haul transcontinental flights, including the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800.
