UK-Cambodia Collaboration: Pioneering Green Economic Development

In a bid to foster environmental sustainability, the United Kingdom has pledged cooperation with Cambodia in establishing a Green Special Economic Zone. H.E. Dominic Williams MBE, British Ambassador to Cambodia, articulated this commitment during a recent meeting with H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).

Expressing optimism, Ambassador Williams highlighted the UK's support for Cambodia's national infrastructure and development initiatives across various sectors, including education, economy, health, and security. Notably, emphasis was placed on promoting girls' education, a crucial component of Cambodia's societal progress.

In response, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol warmly welcomed the UK's proposal, underscoring its significance in advancing global environmental conservation efforts. He lauded the potential collaboration, emphasizing its potential contribution to sustainable development goals.

During the meeting, discussions also revolved around Cambodia's infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity with neighboring nations. Deputy Prime Minister Chanthol outlined key initiatives, including the expansion of National Road No. 5 and the development of expressways linking major cities like Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville.

Looking ahead, Deputy Prime Minister Chanthol disclosed plans for a diplomatic outreach campaign, including a visit to the UK, to attract foreign investors to Cambodia. The aim is to bolster the country's economic growth through strategic partnerships and investments.

The collaboration between the United Kingdom and Cambodia marks a significant step towards fostering environmental sustainability and economic prosperity. With mutual dedication and concerted efforts, both nations aim to pave the way for a greener and more prosperous future, not only for their citizens but for the global community as a whole.
